Mr. Poliner’s main areas of practice are employment class actions as well as consumer class actions. Mr. Poliner has been lead or co-lead counsel in over 100 class actions which have resulted in over $100 million being made available to employees and consumers.
The class actions handled by Mr. Poliner, in both State and Federal Courts, involve a wide spectrum of cases, ranging from employers’ failure to pay employees’ overtime, failure to pay vacation pay; failure to provide employees with duty-free meal and rest breaks; failure to reimburse employees with expenses - such as mileage or expenses incurred while maintaining company issued uniforms; and misclassification of employees. One such case handled by Mr. Poliner alleged an employer misclassified managers and assistant managers and as a result, failed to pay them overtime. Through the efforts of Mr. Poliner, approximately $10 million was made available to class members. Mr. Poliner has also been successful in a number of consumer class actions as well. Mr. Poliner was co-lead counsel for a class of consumers who purchased CARB-compliant summertime reformulated gasoline in California at an alleged inflated price. The case resulted in a $48 million settlement, of which millions of dollars were provided to various charities to better our environment. Mr. Poliner’s goal is to put back money in the hands employees and consumers to which they are entitled. PRACTICE AREAS
